Lauren Schnarr Lauren Schnarr is a self-taught artist from Vancouver, Canada. She grew up in both Canada and the U.S. since her parents are Americans. Although she watched her mother paint during her childhood, she had little interest in painting until 1997 when she decided to try her hand with some canvas and oils given to her by her mother. After her first painting, she was captured and has since painted over 2,000 canvases.

She has exhibited her work in several group shows, five solo shows, galleries and boutique stores. Since 2004, 9 paintings inspired by Provence & British Columbia's wine country have been published to limited edition prints. (www.casacollection.ca and wineartbc.com) From 2007 to 2014 many paintings were used on the sets of TV films.

Lauren's style is expressive in colour, texture and form. She prefers to paint wet on wet with swift movement and loose brush strokes. For subject matter, she likes anything that brings forward movement and emphasis of colour to the canvas.

" I believe that colour connects with our senses, emotions and memories. My work is more about harmonizing colour to create an image than the defining image itself. "

" Most of my paintings are not painted from photographs, on scene or still life. Every image, whether it be impressionistic or abstract, is painted for the love of colour and the important role it brings to the spaces we live and work in. "
